50 Years in the Making

My first "gig" with a bluegrass band was in 1966.  I played mandolin with a band known as ... well, the name isn't important.  Since then I've performed with a number of bands playing various instruments and singing various parts.

In 2016 I'm celebrating my 50-year career with a concert which I'm calling "50 Years In The Making."  I will get as many musicians as possible that I have played with over the years to attend.  The show will be at the Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio located at 339 Central Ave., Albany NY.  It's a great venue.  It will occur on Saturday, October 15, 2016; the show will start at 8:00 P.M.

As of now, I will have the following:

From my first band in 1966 in southern Connecticut, Dave Kiphuth and Phil Rosenthal.  Both of them have made a lot of progress musically since then.

Bluegrass Samurai: a  band I was in in the late 70s and early 80s.  Mark Patton on guitar, Deane Lewis on banjo and Frank Orsini on fiddle.  I played upright bass

Blue Moon: A band I was in in the late 90's to the mid 00's.  Deane Lewis on banjo, Pat Mullally on  guitar, Fred Woodward on bass.  I played mandolin and a little fiddle.

I played on an album put out by Marty Wendell called "Rockabilly Heart"  It was all original materal from Marty.  It won't be very bluegrassy, but I think you'll enjoy it.  I played upright bass.

Helping out throughout the evening will be local legendary musicians Al and Kathy Bain.

We will also include the world premier of the Barr Brothers.  Come to the show to find out what that's about.

I will also be performing with my fellow Saturday night WAMC radio compadres: Wanda Fischer and Tim Coakley.  We'll behave ourselves.

This is a full evening of entertainment.  There may be some additions between now and showtime, and of course you never know who might show at the show.  I'll have more information on this page as the details become reality.  I hope to see you there!
